My magazine uses typical conventions of a professionally published music magazine. I have used coverlines with different and bold colours which is a typical convention. I didn't really want one bigger than the others but I was given some feedback that it would be a good idea. I made the coverline slightly larger but I liked the position of it in the first place so I kept it where it was. I have a bold masthead which is eye grabbing just like the Billboard example below. I don't think I particularly challenged any conventions except my double page spread deviated from my house style. It was actually quite difficult to fit some house style in on that page and make it look good but I did it eventually.
My double page spread is personally my favourite. I think it is slightly unconventional compared to other examples I have seen. My double page spread is one single picture spread over two pages. It maintains the colour scheme of a cool beigey colour. The main body text changed a few times because I just couldn't get it to look right. I finally made the decision to keep it the same as the Header which is the pull quote. I kept the dissolve on the name which is the same as the actual name on my magazine. I like the continuity of the theme.
I feel like my contents page is very similar to a typical issue of Kerrang. It has the same white background and black blocks for my sub headers. Throughout my pages I played on the shadow theme as all three images of Richie Carson have an edited shadow. I kept the colour scheme of Black, White and light blue which matches the conevntions of a published Music magazine.I actually had a change of plan while putting it all together. I couldn't get a female model to be Aster Star so I had to use the ones I took of Richie Carson but they were good and interesting photos so I didn't particularly mind. He was included i my artist planning so it's not like I had to start from scratch. I had written out an article for my original artist which I had to completely rewrite and I was a little upset because I loved her as an artist but i am 100% happy with how Richie Carson came across in my magazine.
Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Question 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

Question 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

(I've just realised I left the N out of technology.)
Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
"As I can tell from my front covers, I have improved so much. I have learned how to position and layer and use them to my advantage. I remember finishing my preliminary task and looking at it thinking. 'that's amazing!' and now looking back on it I am laughing because of how much better my music magazine is. I have learned to manage my time effectively and get everything in on time which isn't really something I have previously been good at. I think I have gained an eye for piecing the pages together so they look good and professional. However I thought that about the preliminary task and now look what I think of it so next year I could come back to this and think the same. In my opinion I think I've always had a good awareness for audience and what they want and I think this shows especially in my music magazine. I tried to use all the conventions to manipulate separate layers together to create a good sense of the audience. I have learnt how to use many technological things better than I would have used them first time. I managed to erase certain things form photos and make the overall image cooler or warmer based on how I altered the hue and contrast. Overall I think I've generally learned how to make a magazine look good, I didn't know that upping the contrast made a glossy finish and I spent a lot of time altering it to how I wanted it to look. One thing I did learn is that even though researching is my least favourite part and seemed to take forever it wouldn't have been the same without it! Every time I came back to it I altered the contrast. I think I have improved as an overall media student!"
